GORDON STRACHAN FOR ADIDAS MEXICANA

To celebrate adidas bringing back the Mexicana, we took a trip down memory lane. Harking back 36 years to 1986, the World Cup was held in Mexico, and Scotland were there. There's one game in particular that stands out, and a moment in that game that will live in the memories of many Scotland fans forever.

Scotland lost their opening match to Denmark, and we went on to lose our second match 2-1 to West Germany, but during that match at the Estadio Corregidora in Queretaro, an inch perfect pass put Gordon Strachan through, and although the angle was difficult, he rifled a shot past Harald Schumacher putting Scotland 1-0 up against one of the tournament favourites.

It's also what proceeded the goal which found its way onto our Mexicana mood board as in celebration, at five foot six inches, Strachan opted not to jump the advertising hoardings around the pitch, and instead lifted his leg on to one of the boards, and smiled at the Tartan Army behind the goal who were going wild.

Ahead of the release, we headed to Rafa's Diner in Glasgow to meet the man himself, eat some tacos, and of course, talk about THAT moment in Mexico in ’86.
